About the event
Here at CCP we often come across parents who are in desparate need of support caring for their loved one with an Eating Disorder. In this challenging and scary time, parents are scared, confused and uncertain of how to help.
It Takes A Village: is a workshop designed to look at the unique stressors parents face when their loved one is battling an Eating Disorder. This workshop is led by Carly Crawford (Psychotherapist) with the help of Tracey Harper(Nutritionist).
In this workshop will cover the following themes:
- Checking in with you; coping with Carer Burn out.
- Eating Disorders and the unique role of the carer in supporting this illness.
- Emotion Coaching and Validation training
- Anxiety Management (Carer's)
- Stages of Change
- Identifying Carer Styles
- Managing expectations
- Crisis management
This group was created to help bridge the gap in services, and help support carers. Due to lack of services, often times Carers end up in the position of supporting loved ones through their Mental Illness. This workshop aims to bring like minded individuals together in a safe, confidential and supportive environment to discuss tough topics.
This group is appropriate for:
- Parents and/or Spouses (supporters) of someone who has an Eating Disorder (this could be a formal diagnosis, or someone who is showing signs and symptoms of disordered eating).
- This group is helpful for those who are new to a diagnosis or someone who has been going through this for a long time. Having a variation of stages in the group is very beneficial for members when supporting eachother.
- This group is helpful for anyone who is looking to gain insight from clinicians who understand the barriers to supporting your loved one. We understand that this process is very difficult for everyone involved. We work with you to help you better understand the illness and how to separate guilt, blame and shame.
- This group may be helpful for supporters who have not found other available support to be helpful in caring for their loved one.
Investment is $160.00 +hst for the day
