Zana London

(she/her)
Registered Social Worker/Counsellor

Zana came to us in April 2021. A student at the time, it took no time at all for us to know she would be part of the team when she was ready. Starting with us officially in October 2021, Zana is an integral part of our team.

Zana comes to this work as a second career and a wealth of experience to help her clients. Passionate about Emotion Focussed Therapy, she has made a huge difference in her client's life already.

Zana is currently on Maternity leave and is expected back June 2024. We look forward to welcoming her back then.

About Zana

If you are reading my biography, you have already taken the hardest step which is making the decision to talk to a therapist.  Since you are considering sharing personal information with me, it is only appropriate that I do the same.

My name is Zana London, and I am a clinical therapist.  I am friendly, non-judgemental, and genuinely want to make your life better.  After practicing as a pharmacist for nearly a decade, I realized that my patients were in desperate need of “talk therapy.”  When I counselled them on their medications, they would often share what they needed help with the most: their emotions, relationships, and everything in between.  This made my decision to pursue my Master of Social Work easy (or as easy as it can be switching careers later in life).

Given my unique training in both medicine and psychology, I provide holistic therapy using evidence-based modalities including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Mindfulness Informed Practices.  In plain English, this means that I will use techniques based on research to empower you and give you the strength you need to conquer whatever challenges you may be going through.  I specialize in supporting women that are experiencing stress, anxiety, or sadness related to relationship, career, life changes, or confidence issues. I am also passionate about supporting women during the perinatal period including fertility, pregnancy, and being a new mother.

What made you want to work with CCP ?

Given that I have spent a considerable portion of my life in a career that was not my passion, I try to make sure that every professional decision I make is one that speaks to me and aligns with my core beliefs. Carly and her team are warm, genuine, and caring - and we all share similar values. It was the easiest professional decision I have made.

What is the most rewarding part of your job as a therapist?

Often clients will come to therapy seeking help for a particular issue, however, once we start working together we usually discover hidden emotions that are associated with a different and more deeply rooted issue.  Discovering these masked primary emotions and patterns is incredibly rewarding and it is a key step in helping my clients move forward.

Approach:

This is best described from one of my clients who recently described me as a loofah, “scrubbing away surface level dirt, and digging down to the innermost layers revealing limiting beliefs and thoughts'' - this is where the magic happens.
